It is with the utmost joy in my heart that I write to let you, my dear friends, know that our precious miracle has arrived. Lucy Grace came into this world last Wednesday, February 17th at 12:57a.m. She weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 19.75 inches long. This is a picture of the moment I first laid eyes on her. In this moment, every single difficult step along my journey faded away. From the heartache I felt during months of failed fertility treatments to the havoc IVF wreaked on my body to the 39 weeks of extreme morning sickness to the terrifying months of profuse bleeding and bed rest and worries of a potential miscarriage, it all suddenly seemed like such a minuscule price to pay to be graced with such a beautiful gift. I am so thankful that God chose me to be her mother and considered me worthy to play a part in the miracle of life.
As you can imagine, things have been a little crazy around here. I have only closed my eyes a handful of times in the past week. I will write more when I have time to sit down and fill you in. I just couldn’t go any longer without sharing the news of her arrival, though. I firmly believe that it is because of your love and prayers that Lucy is even a reality. You have been with me every step of the way, and I am eternally grateful.
